What an IT consultant does

Well, that depends on the consultant!

Snell Systems specialises in the design and implementation of software and networks, and in technical writing.

This means that if you need an application of some sort written - from a Web application or a custom DBMS through to an embedded control system for an 8-bit microprocessor, we can help you. Likewise if you need a network (see our networking page for more details). Or a network protocol; we have designed several of those in the past. Also, if you want technical documentation produced, we can help; our founder has written user manuals, co-authored a book on XSLT, and has been the technical editor behind several other books.

Help! I'm project manager for a software development effort, and we're running behind schedule!

We can help you. Whether you just need more manpower to get it done, or an external viewpoint to give a fresh perspective on problems that have started to seem insurmountable from having spent too many late nights staring at them, rescuing a projects is one of the more exciting things we get involved in.

But what about fixing my PC?

That's not something we'd do - look in your local Yellow Pages under Computer Maintenance.

Web design?

We don't do the graphical design of Web pages, but we do all the other parts of making a Web site - and we have relationships with Web designers who we subcontract those parts of the work to when we're creating a web site, or we can work from designs created by your choice of designer.
